Happy Friday Elio’ers! We hope that you were able to recharge over the 3-day weekend which made the 4-day workweek fly by. It may not be officially summer just yet, but it’s definitely starting to feel like it all across the country. It’s the perfect time to fire up the grill, stock the fridge, sit back and enjoy this awesome time of year.

In this week’s blog, we will take a look at the most frequently asked questions about the vehicle and about Elio Motors. We have several ways we communicate with die-hard Elio fans and folks who just recently discovered us. Whether it be through email, Facebook, Twitter, or phone calls, we receive thousands of questions a week. Today, we will address some of the questions that seem to pop up the most.

Q: What options will be available for my Elio?

A: With a vehicle as unique as ours, the traditional option package system simply will not do. So, we launched our ePlus, My Elio My Way program. Other manufacturers make customers pay for a pricey option package that likely includes unwanted options. This will not be the case for the Elio. We will connect our customers with our vast supplier network, making the sky the limit for options! If, for example, you want leather seats but not navigation, you won’t be forced to buy them both in a package. If the option you want is a bit off-the-wall, there is no guarantee it will be available. Not all options will be available, and availability will be determined by demand, timing, and the aftermarket.

Q: I see the new configurator has been launched, but it doesn’t have an option I want. Does this mean the option won’t be available?
A: Absolutely not! Please keep in mind that the configurator you see is just the first version, and is designed to give you a feel for the customization process once your number is called. We will be adding more features and improvements to the configurator in the coming months and it will continue to grow bigger and better!

Q: I received an email survey about options- what is this about?

A: Occasionally, we will send surveys to our reservation holders regarding possible available options. The surveys are sent out to a random sampling group, so if you haven’t received one, don’t worry- you may in the future. These surveys are a great way for us to gauge what you, the reservation holder, want in your vehicle. Thanks to everyone who has filled them out!

Q: How can you possibly sell an American-made vehicle for such a low price?

A: First, the configuration of the Elio is itself a cost-cutter. For example, there are 3 wheels instead of 4, 2 seats instead of 5 or 6, and 1 door. Additionally, we looked to cut costs anywhere we could, including areas that many people wouldn’t think about, like the hood latches. By doing things a little differently, our engineers were able to cut costs and make the Elio incredibly affordable.
