Two Important Topics

Happy Friday Elio’ers! As you probably know, the Three Wheeling Friday Blog is a pretty optimistic place, and why not, after all it is the end of the work week. This week, recent articles highlighted two issues that could impact our fans that we felt we should discuss. Don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom, as the Elio is a positive in these discussions. Without further ado…

High Prices, High Interest

A recent article by The Detroit News is titled “Auto consumers feel pinch as interest rates rise.” Ouch. As we’ve talked about in past blogs, new and used car prices are spiraling out of control, and it looks like no end is in sight. Not only are prices rising, but interest rates are following suit. According to the article, “The average annual percentage rate for a new-car loan was 5.8 percent last month, up a full percentage point from September 2017. In real terms, that means someone taking out a five-year, $30,000 car loan would pay $828 in additional interest over the course of the loan: $4,632 in interest payments vs. $3,804. The last time the average interest rate for a car loan was above 6 percent was January 2009.”

It’s easy to find a problem, but much more difficult to find a solution. Ours- to offer a new vehicle, with a 3-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, at a fraction of the cost of the average new vehicle on the road today. We also plan on offering several different financing options for our customers. No matter the figures, the equation benefits Elio owners.

Leave Only (Small) Footprints

Another recent article, this time by Auto Blog, reports that “The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change just issued a chilling report on how carbon emissions will catastrophically affect humans in the coming decades…The transportation sector — and the oil and utility companies that support it — play a massive role in this conversation.” Regardless of your position on the issue, the conversation is an important one.

Again, the Elio can provide a sensible solution to the problem. At up to 84 MPG on the highway and 49 in town, the Elio is highly efficient and can help thousands of commuters cut down on their carbon footprint. Even if you’re not exactly an environmentalist, the gas savings will leave you with plenty of green. Forgive us if our math is incorrect, but we believe that the Elio X 84/49= Green.

Thanks for your support and have a tremendous weekend!
