Happy Friday Elio’ers! In recent blogs, we’ve talked about the fact that both basketball and hockey are deep into their playoff calendars, and that baseball season is just starting to settle in. When you look at a successful team, the sum is greater than the whole of its parts. A winning team almost always consists of a collection of players that contribute in different ways with a common goal in mind. Working together, teams can accomplish incredible feats.
Bringing an innovative vehicle to market also requires a team with a singular goal in mind. Recently, we’ve heard from folks who are new to Elio Motors. Once the common questions are out of the way (the great gas mileage and low base price) we hear “How can it be so inexpensive,” followed by “Is it a quality vehicle?” These are both fantastic questions, and the answers can largely be attributed to our blue-chip supplier team. Elio Motors has an impeccable supplier base. Not only that, we have a world-class group of automotive expertise collaborating to produce our vehicle.
One of our blue-chip suppliers, Creative Liquid Coatings, recently gave a few team members a tour of their incredible plant in Indiana. Creative Liquid Coatings’ paint capabilities include interior and exterior body plastics, composites, and more. We were able to check out their 316,000-square foot facility and it was very, very impressive. We had a chance to look at some projects that they are currently working on for some major names in the automotive industry and let us tell you- they are working on some pretty exciting stuff. We’re thrilled to be working with such a great supplier.
Not only did they give us a great tour, they also let us use their parking lot for our pop-up event! We again had a tremendous turnout- at one point we had over 100 Elio fans waiting to try the E1c on for size. The crowd was varied, including die-hard reservation holders, and rubberneckers in the area. While it’s great to introduce new people to the vehicle, we really love talking to folks who have been with us from the beginning. We had a chance to talk to Alex, who has a number in the mid 600’s. Alex knows the auto industry like the back of his hand and loves the concept and the mission. Also, we had a great chat with Steve and his wife, who made the short drive down from Minneapolis (only 566 miles!) Steve believes in the mission so much that he has multiple reservations, including a number under 200. Thanks to everyone (including Bob, “Cleveland”, Eric H, and others) who made the trip to pay us a visit!
In the last few weeks we’ve been getting a bunch of emails asking if we will have a pop-up event in their area soon. No matter the city or state, the answer is the same: it’s possible. At this stage, our vehicles are being used for funding purposes. We absolutely love having pop-up events when we can, but can only have them when we get a break in our schedule. So, the lead time to give supporters a heads up is typically short, but we will do our absolute best to give us much notice as we can.
In case you missed it, our past couple of Momentums are the beginning of a series that takes an in-depth look at our plant in Caddo Parish, as well as our plans for manufacturing and launch. We may be biased, but we think they’re both worth a read. Here’s a link to Part 1 and Part 2.
Thanks for your support- have a marvelous weekend!
