Happy Friday Elio’ers! This is a public service announcement for all of our fellow procrastinators: there is just over 2 weeks left to start and finish your holiday shopping. Fortunately, thanks to the internet, you can probably do almost all of your shopping from the comfort of home. But, 2 weeks can go by awful quickly, so this weekend might be a good time to make a major dent in your list before the college football bowl season starts. We may be a little biased, but making a reservation for an Elio is a quick, easy, and dare we say awesome gift. It also doubles as a great gift to yourself!
This week’s blog will take a look at one of our absolute favorite states, Texas. It should be no surprise that as the second biggest state in the union (in terms of both land and population) that Texas is home to the 2nd largest group of Elio Motors reservation holders. Our supporters from Texas are passionate for a diverse variety of reasons. As the entire state is quite spread out, many of our Texan fans love our great gas mileage for long hauls across the state. Texas is also a particularly patriotic state, and the fact that we are committed to building an American vehicle in a neighboring state (Louisiana) is a major selling point. Austin, the state’s capitol, is known as being a hub for innovation and environmental friendliness, which fits in perfectly with the Elio Motors vision. Any way you look at it, Texas and Elio Motors make for a perfect fit!
Here are a few interesting facts about the Lone Star State:
Let’s Hit the Road
There are upwards of 70,000 miles of highway all across the state. These stretches of highway run up an impressive paint bill: the state uses more than 1.6 million gallons of paint to mark the roads. At up to 84 MPG on the highway and an 8 gallon gas tank, the Elio could drive every mile of Texas highway on about 104 tanks of gas!
Don’t Mess With Texas
Texas was an independent nation for 9 years from 1836 until 1845.
Turn it Up to 11
The official motto of Austin is “The Live Music Capitol of the World.” Unofficially, locals like to use “Keep Austin Weird.”
A Bit Batty
Texas is home to the most species of bats in the United States. About 1.5 million bats hang underneath the Congress Avenue Bridge. It turns out hanging upside down can make a bat hungry, as they eat between 10,000 and 30,000 pounds of bugs a night.
14 million. No, that’s not the human population of Texas (which is about 27 million.) It’s the cattle population in the state- no wonder Texans love a good steak!
We’re appreciative of all of our Texas reservation holders and supporters- a Texas-sized thanks! Out of every state, we receive the most requests for a Texas tour stop. It’s been a while since we’ve been in Texas, but rest assured, we haven’t forgotten about you. We anticipate visiting the state in the spring- don’t forget to periodically check our website to stay in the loop!
