This Stop – Richmond, VA!
Hello Elio’ers! After our trip to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), we stayed in Virginia for an event at Stony Point Fashion Park. For most of the weekend our high-mileage prototype was catching some rays in the courtyard of the mall, but then moved into an indoor studio space due to rain. Not too shabby either…
We were lucky to meet more fantastic futureliowners. Pictured below is Tony and Mary. Our Elio reservation holders are always excited to tell their story. Here is Tony’s.
How did you learn about the Elio? “I came across an article about 18 months ago about the Elio and the concept. The more I researched the vehicle, the more sense it made to drive a vehicle such as this, particularity in light that I was commuting over 100 miles per day round-trip to/from work at that time (before retiring).”
What appeals to you most about owning an Elio? “Several things were appealing to me – the common-sense approach to people ‘transport’ in a vehicle that met 90% of our needs versus buying a larger vehicle that I would use only 10% for that increased capacity, predominantly American made and using current technology.”
Color choice? “Originally it was Creamsicle, but due to all the potential wraps that might be available, I am also thinking about black.”
Anything else you want to mention? “Definitely cannot wait until I can drive my own Elio. I believe that it will be a blast to drive, and that it will become the wave of the future, and it will allow me to just take a drive through the countryside without feeling guilty about either the environment or depleting my wallet from buying gas (no matter how expensive gas becomes).”
Elio will be on display in Washington DC May 16-17 as a part of Smithsonian magazine’s Future is Here Festival; a four-day event highlighting some of the most advanced thinking in science, technology and engineering from an array of experts, visionaries and noted science-lovers.
Since a ticket must be purchased to attend this event, a free event has been scheduled in the same area. The tour team will have the P4 on display at the Hilton Garden Inn in Greenbelt, MD from 1:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, May 18.
Hope to see you there!
