Happy Friday Elio’ers! We hope that you thoroughly enjoyed your Memorial Holiday weekend and your truncated work week flew by. Sometimes a shorter work week doesn’t feel like a short week because you’re trying to catch up, but it’s worth it to have that extra day. Just think, we’re only a month away from another patriotic holiday! Summer can make a great case for being the best time of year. It’s hard to rival warm weather, vacations, and backyard BBQs. Sure, each season has its individual and unique charm, but the summer season is hard to beat.
If you’ve been keeping up with our posts recently, you know that our recent Momentums have outlined our manufacturing and launch plans. If you’ve been out of the loop, we’ll catch you up. It has been our goal to give our supporters an inside look at the process of bringing a new vehicle to market. We want to show our supporters what will happen once the first Elio is ready to be manufactured in Caddo Parish. If you’ve missed the previous Momentums, click here.
The most recent update outlined the second part of the paint process. It may seem like a simple process, but it is exacting and calls for countless years of experience. As always, our observant supporters came up with some great questions.
In the Momentum, we talked about the fact that the robots could change the spray paint color pretty quickly. We were asked if we would offer custom paint jobs at the plant. We are sticking with the seven colors offered as it is a significant part of the reason we can offer the Elio at an affordable price. We will build a total of 14 vehicles: 7 colors and 2 transmissions. Wraps in a variety of different colors, some that would even put the rainbow to shame, will be available through ePlus: My Elio, My Way. The Elio will be endlessly customizable.
A great question that came in was regarding the shades of the paint. A color might look a little different on a computer screen that it does in person. You can get an idea today on your computer, at least narrowing your decision a little bit and before production, Elio owners will be able to choose their color with confidence by seeing the colors in the real world through several plans that we will roll out before you have to make your final choice.
We were also asked about the longevity of the paint. Our paint supplier, BASF, is an industry leader. Just like with any vehicle, if you take care of it, it will take care of you.
Thanks for your support and have a great weekend!
